  My Production

Utsuwa (means bowls, cups, containers, vessel.,capacity, and e.t.c in Japanese) has empty space inside. I think this space exists for itself, not only for us to put something in. In Jomon period, people recognized the existance of the space for the first time through creating Utsuwa. Like they did, I created my works of Utsuwa clearly emphasizing the space of it by its from and identified the exisistance of it. I've been working to show and make people understand it, so I want you to feel it from my works too.

A material of Tou (Japanese ceramic) is mostly used to create Utsuwa. Utsuwa is thick, however, it is fragile because it has an empty space inside. I have been creating objets by using Tou because the pecaliarities of it attract me so mach. Therefore this is the first time to useful design seriously .
